We Still Have Work to Do
The last five years that I have served as your City Council Representative has been an inspiration.
We have made many changes and faced many tough decisions.
We also have made major improvements to our communities by taking a comprehensive look at economic development from the perspective of jobs, education, housing, commercial development, business and transportation.
We have worked tirelessly to set the framework for economic development in District 12 with projects that include the BeltLine, the Metropolitan Parkway Tax Allocation District, the redevelopment of Fort McPherson and Pryor Road, the renovation of Lakewood Amphitheater, the corridor studies for Jonesboro Road and Cleveland Avenue, and the creation of two neighborhood commercial districts on Dill Avenue. There have been significant infrastructure improvements as well, which include new sidewalks, street resurfacing, handicap accessibility, sewer and water infrastructure improvements and major park renovations. I am committed to not only seeing these projects through to completion, but to also initiate more.

The Committee for a Better Atlanta recently rated Joyce as "Excellent" in its survey of candidates vying for Atlanta's Mayor and City Council seats. The coalition of Atlanta businesses and business organizations "scores" candidates on business issues important to the community at-large. Read more
The Buckhead Coalition, an influential group of Atlanta's CEOs, announced it favors Sheperd for the District 12 Council seat.
Sheperd received high marks from PACE, the Professional Association of City Employees, during the organization's screening of candidates for the City Council and Mayoral elections. PACE questioned candidates on issues pertinent to city employees such as Privatization, Pay, Pensions, Rif's and having a voice in the overall health of the city. Read more
The Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council, AFL-CIO, a group of 42 affiliates representing 87,000 union workers in Metro Atlanta, endorsed Sheperd for re-election to District 12 City Council.
The Georgia Equality Project noted Sheperd's "vested interest in keeping your community safe, clean and moving forward because your community is her community," in their endorsement of her re-election to District 12.Read more
